As we look forward to a new season, I want to extend a big “welcome back” to you. Welcome back to the routines and programs of Sunday school and Messy church. I hope that you are refreshed from summertime leisure, family playtime, and travel. I have enjoyed the carefree explorations in the outdoors with the Nature Explorer’s Club and the high energy VBS, but I also look forward to the transition of cooler weather and a more focused time with you.
The themes for Messy church in the next couple of months involve “Bible Roads” and “Bible Mountains”. We hope that you can join us as we share hospitality, creativity, and celebration with people of all generations.
Sunday school will resume and offer children opportunities to grow in Biblical literacy. Students in grades K-5 will continue to use the David C. Cook “Bible in Life” curriculum, and the preschool age students will use “Play through the Bible”.
Anyone who is interested in gaining skills in hospitality or in children’s education is strongly encouraged to attend an informal training session on Tuesday, August 13th from 5:30-7:30 in the fellowship hall. This exciting and engaging learning experience is also for anyone who is curious about what happens in children’s/intergenerational ministry (aka: what does Carrie really do at the church besides play?) Whether you are a parent, grandparent, lover of children’s sermons (who isn’t?), or someone who knows nothing about children and hospitality…. this is for YOU!
Yours in Christ,
Carrie Allio
Director of Children and Family Ministry
