GIBBONS BIG BAND

Jazz and Swing Favorites

An old school big band with a huge heart takes the stage right at the close of the Saxonburg Artisan Market. Playing a wide repertoire of big band standards with a full compliment of brass and winds, this entertaining ensemble is sure to get you swinging!

PLEASE NOTE: This concert takes place right at the tail end of the Saxonburg Artisan Market. Main Street will be closed for the event, and parking will be at a premium. Come early to allow time for drop off if needed, and a short walk from your vehicle.

Beo String Quartet

+ Pianist, Ilya Yakushev

Beo String Quartet plays classical, contemporary, rock, and experimental music. Fresh off a residency at one of the venerated Chautauqua festivals, the quartet is joined by Yamaha Artist, pianist Ilya Yakushev to bring some striking music by Shostakovich, Beethoven, and more.

Now in residence at the newly minted Keystone Opry in Butler, PA, Middleground is Western Pennsylvania's premier bluegrass band. Strongly rooted in tradition with a twist of modern influences, they bring a toe tappin' good time!

Big Band Sounds

A modern take on the big bands of yore, this high caliber group includes our own Nick Depew on drums! Big Fat Jazz will surprise and delight with classic and contemporary jazz, swing, blues, and Latin charts from artists like Stan Kenton, Maynard Ferguson, Duke Ellington, and Brian Setzer, and more.

DAN & MELISSA BYERLY

Violin, Voice, Piano - Definitely Dvorak

Violinist Jonathan Moser, Tenor Dan Byerly, and pianist Melissa Byerly bring a concert of beauty, intrigue, and excitement. Featuring works by Czech composer Antonin Dvorak, this music is sure to captivate. Jonathan is an accomplished violinist, having served as concertmaster for Pittsburgh Opera Theater and the Erie Philharmonic, among other notable ensembles. Dan has performed in major New York City venues including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.

WESTMINSTER COLLEGE CHOIR

Choral Beauty led by Dr. Ryan Keeling

With Director Dr. Ryan Keeling at the helm (who has conducted such groups as the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsbugh), this excellent group’s recent tours have included performances in New York, Washington D.C., Atlanta, Orlando, Louisville, Nashville, Cincinnati, and internationally throughout Scotland, Spain, Italy, Germany, Austria, and the Czech Republic. Augmented by Chamber Singers and Treble Choir, these voices will serenade and excite!

Featuring Juliette Trudeau

From the Butler Symphony orchestra, Principal Percussionist Juliette Trudeau leads a trio of talented players. An exciting program featuring everything from drums to timpani to bells and xylophones is sure to keep you entertained.

To ensure this lasts, we need your help. Donations can be made online at the link below, and can also be made by Cash or Check. Make checks payable to Saxonburg Memorial Church, and be sure to put “Friends of Music” in the memo line.

It is important to us that you know all donations clearly marked “Friends of Music” go to a Restricted Fund. This Restricted Fund is specifically designated to the purpose of this concert series. Becoming a Friend of Music means you are directly supporting the continuation of quality music in this community.

Concert FAQs...

WHERE are the concerts?

Concerts are hosted inside Saxonburg Memorial Church at 100 West Main Street, Saxonburg, PA. Our sanctuary has plenty of seating.

PARKING

Our parking lot is behind the main church building, with entrances off of Rebecca Street. There is also parking available on Main Street, and at the bank right across Main Street.

COST

Saxonburg Concerts are always FREE TO ATTEND! This is a donor supported series.
