Did you wake up today feeling alive? Do you start each day recognizing that we only live once? Are you making your life count or are you just going through the motions? It is easy to get caught up in our day-to-day living. Our routines keep us busy. But life is fleeting, especially compared to the eternity that lies ahead. Paul writes in Colossians 3:3, For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. He also writes in 1 Corinthians 15:22, In Christ all shall be made alive.
Elijah was heartsick and feeling very alone. He wanted to hear from God.
The Lord said,
“Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper." (1 Kings 19:11-12)
That quiet voice was just what Elijah had needed. Do you have enough quiet in your life to hear that gentle whisper?
In His Grip,
Pastor Doug
